We have character.
Th3rd World Studios launched as a web comic, comic graphic novel studio in 2006. It was co-founded by Michael DeVito and Jon Conkling along with Scott Closter and Justin Robinson. After working for several other companies in various capacities the Th3rd World founders decided to go out on their own. Their goal was to develop properties that were absent in the then saturated zombie and vampire markets.
Enter Space Doubles, the first of several projects that began development as early as 2005 under the guidance of Scott Closter. The group was looking for their first project that would ideally get the ball rolling for the company. Several other projects had begun development, but were in their infancy. Space Doubles was a flip format anthology. Something that was and continues to be a bit of a bad word in the comics industry. The flip format was, however something that hadn't been done in some time and the idea of retro science fiction tales was particularly intriguing.
3 years and many creators later Space Doubles hit stands to debut in the top 300 of Diamond's sales charts. Issues 2 and 3 shipped shortly thereafter. Since then Th3rd World Studios has successfully published 3 comic series along with 3 web comic series that have met with positive fanfare. 2009 promises the release of several new series to add to their resume as well as some follows ups to material currently in print.
Th3rd World Studios continues to stress quality over quantity, limiting the total number of titles per year in favor of a very careful and nurturing development process.
