BACK IN FIGHTIN' SHAPE

Man, do I feel better. While I regretted not being able to pull it together enough to get a proper strip out last week, I sure did need the rest.  I guarantee you what you see above is not what I would have posted last week if I had pushed myself harder than I was able.  Hope you enjoy this slight artistic departure.  I know I had some fun with it.

Thanks again to everyone for their concern and support while I and my family dealt with some pressing medical issues. I like this nice end of the internet I seem to have stumbled into.

TALL TALE FEATURES NEWS

Big stuff going down at Tall Tale Features (the premier webcomic collective that I'm lucky enough to be a part of) this month.  Not only has the sight been redesigned, but we've also added two new members to our roster!

First up is a comic I've been following since it started, Irma E.'s Imy. Irma, an American living in Sweden and an extremely nice person (not to mention fan of SF!), started Imy as more of a hobby but over time it has turned into something really special.  I implore you to check it out.

Next up is Gill by the depressingly talented Norm Feuti.  "Depressingly" because on my best day I could not be the artist Norm is.  He has a command of his tools that I greatly envy.  The writing on Gill is no slouch either and it's never less than a professional piece of work, from top to bottom (or left to right as the case may be).

Bookmark both of those comics.  You won't regret it.

THE 50 MOST NOTEWORTHY PEOPLE IN WEBCOMICS

This is pretty cool.  Ming, aka Artmaker, aka superfan of the SuperFogeys, is putting together a list of the 50 Most Noteworthy People in Webcomics.  Right now, he's taking your nominations and it looks to be a lot of fun.  There's lots of competitions and awards handed out in the webcomic world, but this is the first one I've seen that focuses more on the people and less on the comics themselves.  The results should be interesting...

SUPERFOGEYS ORIGINS STARTS NEXT WEEK!

It's finally here!  Man, I am so excited.  I ran a short contest on Twitter this week to offer up a chance to a lucky few people to preview the complete first page of SFO and those that won and took a look were very positive in their responses.

SFO is a big change of pace from what you've seen from the SuperFogeys so far, but I think you're gonna dig it.  It's still very much within the same universe, but from a completely different angle and in a new format.  You'll see...

Next Week:

Remember, from now on it's "SuperFogeys Origins" on Tuesdays and "The SuperFogeys" on Thursdays. Tuesday brings the first page of "SuperFogeys Origins: The Money Man."  On Thursday we'll see the penultimate chapter of this long, long, way too long origin of Captain Spectacular and Dr. Rocket!  We'll see the duo finally make it back to Earth, but it's not gonna be what they're expecting...

Mike J. - Thanks, Mike! Hope it lived up the promise of the pencils you snuck a peek at.

Tyler D. - Oh, please, no.

Si Civa - Thanks, me too. It's fun to shake things up artistically once in a while.

Tom - Thanks, man. Your layouts have been rockin' lately as well. Love all the new directions you're taking things.

Chip - Thank you, sir!

Michael D. - Glad you think so, man. I HATED skipping a week.

Double D. - Thanks!

I agree with Lucas: WOW. Amazing composition, the look on Dr. Rocket's face, the zooms, this is about the best comic book-like page I've seen in a long time.

It's not just the artistic method you used. You nailed your character development here too.

Brock, this page is AWESOME. One of your finest, I think. the comp is great, the flow, it's just a lotta fun. Bravo! Do not worry about skipping a week, especially if you're gonna bestow this kind of stuff on us.

Did I kiss your @$$ enough there? LOL

Luke and ME! - Thanks to both of you. This page was a bit of improv. I drew it without really a script and just filled in the words afterwards. That's probably why it's more "comic booky"--it's more visually-oriented.

Si Civa - Oh, cool. Yeah, this is a pretty significant page as far as the CS/DR relationship goes.

DGriff - Uh, yeah, a bit. Haha. I'm glad you liked it, Dawn!

This comic looks amongst the BEST I have ever seen you do...in my humbled, right opinion.

Tad says...

I see how he is shooting with his eyes, and then his eyes appear to be smoking. Is it like the X-men character who has to wear special glasses? is he closing his eyes there when he looks at the hate in Dr. Rocket's eyes? or is it just a post death ray smoke out of the eyes thing, like he can turn it on and off when he pleases, but his eyes still leave smoke trails?

Tad says...

Please pardon my ignorance, I have probably read 7 comic books in my life. and five of them Were Vampirella when I was a teenager (until I realized that the story was crap, they just liked drawing perfect breasts and figured teenagers like me wouldn't notice the lack of story behind the mega-mammaries.).

Dude the nose ship was the only good laugh in this one. Alternatively this has bin the most dramatic and foreshadowing comic in sf for a wail, and I am quite pleased to say now I have to know what he meant by when he had the chance.

OH MY GOODNESS,WHAT A WONDERFUL PAGE!!!!
you really out did yourself, this is exactly why Im a Fogey fan!!!! WOW

Jarrett - Well, since you're always right then it's not just opinion, Jarrett. It's fact.

Tad - Okay, first of all you've thought about this way harder than I did while drawing it. So that's a confession. But if I had to reason it out I'd say your last theory is the correct one. He's a little out of control here, but he does have the ability to turn it on and off. He just hasn't learned the ins and outs of it yet. So...random zapping and smoke trails. That work for you? (And Vampirella? Never read one of those and now it looks like I don't have to. Pretty much what it looks like, right?)

Stonehyrda - Nose ship? Haha. That is funny--and completely unintentional. Probably my subconscious doing some work there because now that I look at it, you're absolutely right. As for the supposed foreshadowing...I think you may have misread it a little. In the last caption, Cap isn't referring to something that hasn't happened yet, he's referring to the fact that he didn't kill the Jorbons when Dr. Rocket told him to. Hope that's not disappointing.

ArgonAssistant - Thanks, man. Just listened back the little interview you did with me and I have to thank you again for popping in there like that. It was good stuff.
