SKETCH CARDS

If you've paid any attention to the links down at the bottom of these comments week in and week out, then you know that this week SF Book 4, collecting Chapter 5, "The Redemption of Dr. Rocket" finally ships.  Been waiting on this one a long time--too long in fact.  Which is why those of you that pre-ordered will be getting some extra goodies with your purchase.

By far the most popular edition of Book 4 has been the Artist Edition. With the artist edition you get a sketch card with an original sketch drawn and signed by yours truly.  I've spent the past couple weeks taking time here and there to make sure that each sketch card is unique and one of a kind.  You know what? Instead of telling you about 'em, I'll just show you.  Here's a shot I took of the full collection before sending them all off to Th3rd World headquarters:

Like I said, the books are shipping out this week, but that doesn't mean you can't still your copy today!  You can go with either the regular edition, or the artist edition.  Either way, now's time!  Order you copy today and get your book pronto.

Don't forget there's a whole 'nother story in this book entitled "The Audition" drawn by one Mr. Lucas Turnbloom.  C'mon, I know you wanna know what happened when Jerry went off to the college and held auditions for a new partner!  Only one way to find out...

GONNA BE IN PHILLY THIS WEEKEND?

Don't forget that Th3rd World will be in Philadelphia this week, hosting a booth at Wizard World Convention.  There you'll be able grab all of Th3rd World's books, including the SuperFogeys.  Book 4 will be making its debut there!  Also, SuperFogeys Origins artist TL Collins will be there doing free sketches and sharing personal stories of what a big, fat jerk I am to work with.  Gonna be great!

NEXT WEEK:

Find out where the Money Man lands on Tuesday in SuperFogeys Origins. On Thursday, the O'Hara Brothers meet a surprise visitor on their way to see their dad.  (And just who is their dad, anyway?)

All sorts of unanswered questions here. I'm thinking that this might get better with age, once it's understood in the context of the greater storyline.

As a stand-alone, comic... Yeah. Not doin' it for me. But I'm sure all your readers still love you and won't abandon you over it.

I don't think it's a bad strip. Hell, I'm happy to see Mega Matt, the Healer, and Captain Emo all together. The sketch cards look awesome, by the way! You are ridiculously talented at doing those. I recently bought a few packs of those trading-card-sized bristol papers...I can only hope whatever I draw on them looks half as good as yours!

Don't be so rough on yourself, silly Brock. I think the page is cute AND I like the reveal. I bet the Healer is irritated at having MegaMatt for a brother. And Captain Emo, for that matter =D

a rolled up sock and duct tape will keep him from singing.
not that i would know.

What!? this strip didn't suck at all! I was mislead on Twitter. All those guys are brothers? amazing. Annnd an entire week of Mega Matt on Superfogeys! AND THE BIONIC SIX THEME SONG!

Something leads me to think that those boys have different mothers. Or at least Mega Matt has.

But Healer is totally a pissant, like Swifty said. And his father too.

Matt is not helping his case any with this page.

I'm starting to think Tangerine squished the wrong person's head.

Mega Matt, Healer, and Capt. Emo are brothers?! Hahahaha.... watch em be Jerry's kids... :P

Ming - Soon! (Finally!) Soon!

Greg B. - I think you're right. That may well be part of my problem with this one. I do my darnedest to make these things stand on their own well enough, but this one is calling upon quite a bit of continuity.

John - I had a ton of fun doing the sketch cards. I'm hoping they sell out quickly so I can get to work on doing some more. Still haven't done a Mega Matt!

Amanda - Thank you. I call 'em as I see 'em, but thank you. I think if Mega Matt was my brother I'd kill 'im.

Tyler D. - Oh, I know you would NEVER do something like that.

Bullfinch - Haha. Thanks, man. It's weird to me that you've drawn way more Mega Matt than I have and that you didn't know he was a brother to the Healer and Captain Emo. I mean, not like I bothered to tell you, but still... Wait til you find who their father is!

Si Civa - Possibly...I think that's a fair conclusion. And...it sounds like someone's been paying attention to the parentage clues.

Dierna - Jerry as the father would be fantastic, wouldn't it? You'll find out soon either way, though enough clues have been dropped throughout the series that one could piece it together as well. It's just never been said outright. It will soon.

C'mon Brock -- I LOVE the theme song. Think we can get Steve Ogden to record it?

amanda says...

posted 6/18/09 12:15 pm

Ahaha, I get the feeling it would take an extraordinary amount of effort to bump off good ol' Matt. You'd be the most vexed brother ever - I daresay moreso than The Healer ^.^

Luke says...

posted 6/18/09 1:53 pm

Oh WOW, Brock -- those cards look AWESOME!

dgriff13 says...

posted 6/18/09 2:22 pm

dawwww... they're all brothers!? ha, cute. wonder who the dad is.

I will be at the WW Philly con on Saturday.. hope to see your peeps there! (although I hear Wit is only gonna be there friday, booo.)

Si Civa says...

But to be honest, before I looked today's page I keep thinking that man, maybe this arc will be that arc where we will know who is Healer's father.
And then BAM, right there was this strip.

But more interesting will be that will we see Captain's son OR the Money man, if there's chance that he is still living. Hard to say after the punch!

Brock says...

posted 6/18/09 3:56 pm

John M. - Steve? You out there? (Does Steve do music? I guess I don't know Steve as well as you.)

Amanda - It's true! Matt seems to be indestructible. Is there a bone he hasn't broken? I think not.

Luke - Thanks, man!

DGriff13 - Please say "hi" to the Th3rd World crew for me! I've never actually met any of them (thought I'm hoping that changes this year).

Si Civa - Ha, nice. Hopefully the info about the Healer having brothers was a nice surprise for you. I'm not saying a word about the Money Man, but the Captain's son...yes, definitely coming up in this chapter.

Hey, still here and reading! Probably won't comment for the next few weeks, field training, yeah!

I think today's is great Brock. Didn't read other comments, but I'm thinking Daddy O'Hara is Tangerine.

Tad says...

posted 6/19/09 12:04 am

I don't know why, but I think Tangerine is their father.

stonehydra says...

i think thay all look a little like lunbering jack to me.

Dierna says...

posted 6/19/09 9:49 am

I just think it would be funny if they were Jerry's kids....would explain why Swifty is so irritated with Mega Matt in the time travel story. *lol*

Brock says...

posted 6/19/09 3:27 pm

Chip - Thanks!

Mike J. - Good luck with training, man. We'll miss you around here but there will be lots for you to read when you get back!

Tad - It seems Jerry or Tangerine are the leading candidates. If you want to know before reveal, I'd suggest a quick reread of Chapter 2. You'll know exactly who it is after that.

Stonehydra - Ha! You're not wrong!

Dierna - No kidding, right?

Never heard of the Bionic 6. Played the clip. Good lord. You can tell how awful it is just from that intro. I strongly suspect that any singing of that theme song in my vicinity would lead to punching.

Love panel two. The poses and expressions are great.

Whoa Tangerine sad.... you don't really see that or at least I haven't.

artisan54 says...

posted 6/20/09 1:46 pm

yup, my vote is definitely for Lumbering jack.

there is a lot of pent up aggression from cap towards the healer. and it would be an interesting twist that his dad crippled cap and healer, well...healed him.

i sense a new character reveal!!!!

oh by the way im going to be a daddy :)

BlanchPrez says...

So... I was looking at Mat in this strip, and went to go check something out... turns out, the bandages he has in this strip match exactly the bandages he is wearing in the Origins storyline. I think our two storylines are about to cross very shortly.

artisan54 says...

ooo nice Blanchprez i didnt even notice that. i guess im so used to seeing Mat lately i over looked it.

CROSS OVER TIME

Brock says...

Skeptible - I actually remember really enjoying the Bionic 6 when I was a kid. I wouldn't dare watch it today though. No way it was any good.

Chaseman113 - Yeah, you know I just did those sketches really quickly and did my best to try lots of different things. Tangerine was a fun one to try to make look sad. You never know what the future holds though...

Artisan54 - Congrats on fatherhood! That's fantastic news. You'll love it.

Blanchprez and Artisan54 - Good catch.

My parents decided to forgo a television when I was of an age to watch that kind of junk. I thank them for it from time to time.
