UPDATE! LOOK BACK AND LINK BACK!
Just realized that today's strip isn't very reader friendly. By way of explanation, Herman is a character that died not too long ago, though this is our first look at this true guise. Who Herman is and what role he played in the first five chapters of the SuperFogeys was explained starting here. Now you know!
WELCOME BACK, T.L. COLLINS!
After an amazing guest stint by Eldon Cowgur, it's great to have T.L. Collins back on SuperFogeys Origins! I think it's clear T.L. used his break to the fullest advantage as this first page of Herman's Story is T.L.'s best yet. Stunning colors in this one. I've seen the pencils to page 2 and I can safely say that much more good stuff is coming.
VOTE FOR THE SUPERFOGEYS!
Once again, Jackson Ferrell is asking the readers to determine what he will be reviewing next. Last time, you took SuperFogeys Chapter 3 all the way into the winner's circle. I'm hoping we can see a repeat performance as Jackson is set to review Chapters 4-6 if SF wins! Yep, all at once.
Right now, SF is falling behind but you if you can spare (literally) one second, you can make a difference. Vote Here Now!

Totally dig the page! The art is fantastic! I can totally see the frame just before this: Herman is sitting on a cloud and WHAM! Down comes Death on the cloud (hence the spiky puff).So...am I supposed to be thinking Joker / Two Face? And, in that last frame I can really see a Dr. Rocket somewhere in there...

Ah the ole "fall into a vat of chemicals with mutagenic properties and get hit by some sort of ray gun" origin....Plemons... interesting surname....Never heard of it but it's apperantly of British origin.

Welcome back T.L.! Just more of your awesome artwork to enjoy each week. For those of you not reading T.L.'s "Bullfinch" comic... Right now a cat dressed like The Riddler has commanded his horde of squirrels to suspend the main character and a yeti named Tony over a vat of molten metal. All us fans are waiting to see how Captain Stubing is going to save them now that he broke up with Scarlett Johanssen.
Yes, I'm sober.

Hmmmm lighting scar on skull? Death is Harry Potter?!?! I always suspected. Is Herman that way because that was his actual age or how he viewed himself or something like that?

THeasley - That is such a great touch with Death in the first panel. I'm glad someone else noticed that. I wouldn't say this is a Joker/Two Face thing so much. You'll see on the next page what the ramifications are. As for Dr. Rocket...good guess. And thanks for the vote!Dierna - I'll admit it's a bit of a cliche I'm working with here, but I think I take it to some new places. You'll see. As for Plemons...that's a reference to the visual inspiration for Herman. There's an actor on Friday Night Lights that looks like just Herman and that's his last name. Now you know.
Greg B. - Haha. Yeah, you're sober, but is T.L.? I have my doubts. Your recommendation seconded.
Tyler D. - Face it, you're just not hardcore enough.
Mike J. - Thanks, man! Much more to come!
Si Civa - Indeed! I wonder how many incarnations of Death there are?
Amanda - Good to have you back! Everything is going quite well, thank you.
EEN - Harry Potter! You've cracked it! As for Herman's age...it's not ever going to be said, but the way I'm playing it is that Herman's afterlife self is his ideal self. Mid-twenties in appearance, no stuttering, etc. Good question. Thanks for asking.

Brock:If you wanna read a comic that features varients of Death then check out Irregular Webcomic. There's a whole bunch of em, plus their leader, Head Death. *lol*

This one was kind of neat for me because I could relate. In grade school I got teased. I put up with it for as long as I could and then chased after my tormentors. I never could catch the twerps. The line "I should have known better ... but I didn't care, I just wanted a piece of that kid" was me when I chased one into class after recess and wailed on him in front of the teacher and the whole class. No super powers, but the teasing stopped.Brock says...

Dierna - Head Death? That sounds hilarious. I checked out the comic. Not really my cup of tea, but I didn't find any Death characters either. My favorite incarnation of Death will always be the one from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.Artisan54 - The "H" on the shirt was a T.L. invention--and a good one at that. All I can say about the ending of this origin is that you will know what happens to Herman.
DGriff13 - Haha! You're so right. I have to be ripping off TMNT here. Of course.
Skeptible - Wow, man, thanks for sharing that. That's rough stuff. Thanks for sharing that. That's quite the unintentionally eerie parallel.

Sweet! I love direction of this comic! It makes perfect sense to begin here because it picks up from the main strip as to what we already know about Herman - he's dead!Anyway, I feel more of a Sandman than a Two-Face, etc, feel to this. Come on? You walked right into that one. :-) But loving it! And, hey! He has a much cooler power than, "I control sand!" Guess Sandman would be a total bummer to fight if he decided to do a robbery on beachfront or desert property. :-)

Well, maybe I did, but I don't think Taller and Fatter is really the kind of shape-changing that Brock had in mind.Michael DeVito says...
