WELCOME TO SUPERFOGEYS ORIGINS, ELDON COWGUR!

Much anticipated and eagerly awaited, here now is Eldon Cowgur's "Tangerine!" Oh, sure, I wrote it, but let's face it--you're here for Eldon.  Well, over the next five weeks you're gonna get him.  Eldon's mastery of ink line is something I stand in awe of.  I wish I was this loose and casually brilliant.  Awe, people! I'm standing in it! (It's a bit sticky--who knew?)

If you haven't caught up with Eldon's own amazing, five-times-a-week webcomic, Astray3, now's the time. It's even been in color lately and Eldon proves himself to be just as much a master in that arena as he does in black and white.  Click now or label yourself as a hater of awesome.

BACK FROM COMIC-CON

Man, that was a whirlwind weekend.  Had a great time meeting some of you, acquiring some new fans and checking out the insanity that is San Diego Comic Con.  I hope to have a full report up for you with pics and (possibly) video soon.  For now I'll just say that not everything went as well as I'd hoped, but a good time was had by both me and my wife.

DAVID REDDICK HAS AN ADDICTION AND ITS NAME IS "SUPERFOGEYS"

Last week I issued a challenge to Legend of Bill's David Reddick to try drawing the older versions of the SuperFogeys for a change.  One week later...well, basically, David Reddick gets a new sketchbook and we are the beneficiaries:

See you on Thursday with SuperFogeys 218!

Concubine cannibals? I have got to see where that goes.

And tell Dave R. that every sketch ratchets up our expectations for the Heasley-Reddick Joint, meaning he's just giving himself a higher bar to clear each time you tease us with more of his awesome interpretations of your characters.

Awesome style, I sure hope you're not planning to defile this work by adding color ;) B&W works very well here.

And awesome CS sketches as well, keep up the good work Dave

Great work Eldon, as usual! Looking sweet. This should be a fun story to watch.

Thanks guys! You are going to see a lot more of the Concubine Cannibals before it's over and this entire run will be in B&W.

Had to come back and look at this again. This Eldon inks like a mofo (That's a good thing!).

I'm loving the fact that this is a huge departure visually. Great stuff Eldon. Can't wait to see more.

Eldon, I am a freak for your work, But you already know that. Hey man, e-mail me, I have a question for you!! (Yes, I'm obviously too lazy to go to Google and e-mail YOU - that I havbe to use Brock's comments section to do so! lol) Brock, again, SuperFogey's is one of my favorites, and a MUST READ every week. Keep it up, toodles!

this is awesome! man, I admire those who can captivate me with just B&W (I say "just", but it shouldn't even matter). And yeah, toss cannibals into any situation, and it gets interesting.

Sounds like the Con was a blast... and as usual, completely insane. One day I'll get out there. Looking forward to some pics!

Greg B. - Consider David told. He's been known to hang out in these parts. I designed the script and story to really play to David's script, so I think we're in for a real treat.

Yourd - No plans at this time to add color to Eldon's work here. I agree. It works beautifully just like this.

DD - You said it!

Tyler D. - Not as good a way to die as you might think...

Bullfinch - The chunky panels are something Eldon added in at the last minute, but I do agree that they work wonderfully.

Tom - Just wait. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Wit - I love that as well. I really encourage any artists who take on SF to do it in whichever visual style they're most comfortable with.

Reddick - Thanks, man! People are chomping at the bit for your story! These sketches are driving everybody nuts.

DGriff13 - It's true. You really can't go wrong with cannibals. And sexy cannibals? That's two rights having a righteous baby.

This is going to be a treat!

HAH! I love it! Things would certainly get crazy at that point! Can't wait for the rest of this.

Greg Bulmash says...

Well, you know with sexy cannibals, "eat me" takes on a whole different meaning.

Tangerine was a hippy?

Concubine Cannibals sounds like the title of a B movie...

Brock says...

Don - From what I've seen of the pages so far...you are so right.

Mike J. - But will it be crazy good or crazy bad? You'll have to see.

Greg B. - You went to a whole place there, didn't you?

Dierna - More of a beatnik, actually (given the time period), but yeah. Everybody starts somewhere, right?

Heck Ya! This is what I'm talking about! The art is perfect but I'm sure you knew that already! This is off to a great start and I'm sure this will be the best super fogies idea to date! I can't wait for more Tangerine! Woot!
