END OF SUPERFOGEYS ORIGINS BOOK ONE

How about a big round of applause for T.L. Collins! Week in and week out, his work has both excited and inspired me.  His art got better and better as we went along and he never missed a deadline. Not once.  You gotta give it up to him for that.

If you haven't had a chance to read the Society of Heroes origin from the beginning, now's a great time to take it all in at once.  You can start here with the two-page Money Man story or just skip right into the first page of the Society of Heroes origin.  Your pick!

(I haven't actually read it from front to back yet. You'll have to let me know how it holds together if you do!)

STARTING ON JULY 28TH...THE ORIGIN OF TANGERINE!

For some reason, I get a lot of questions about Tangerine's origin.  Well, I aim to please.  Starting July 28th, SuperFogeys Origins continues with the 5-part Tangerine origin, drawn by a very special guest artist...Eldon Cowgur of Astray3!

Eldon's art is just astonishing to me. I wish I had his mastery of the inked line.  My stuff can be very cold and calculated at times, but there's an energy and a balance to Eldon's work that is terribly exciting.  If you haven't checked out his 5-times-a-week (seriously, how does he do it?) adventure strip, Astray3, do yourself a favor and click on the link now!

And now, a preview of Tangerine's origin. This is the first panel from the first page. As you can see, Eldon's already got a great handle on the character!

(Sorry Internet Explorer users, we're still trying to figure out the bug that won't let me post images here!)

C'mon back July 28th for more!

BUT WAIT...DON'T COUNT T.L. OUT JUST YET

T.L. will be back next week with the cover to the first SuperFogeys Origins book, which will be published soon. He'll be doing the pencils and if my everything goes well with my schedule, I'll be doing the inks.  We've never worked together on a piece before, so this'll be something to see.

And then, later, after Eldon's stint on Tangerine, T.L. will be back with the origin of Herman the Shape-Shifter!  That one's gonna be worth waiting for.

See you on Thursday with a very special SuperFogeys 216!

Yay T.L.! Yay Brock! This has been an awesome project and has just gotten more awsome as it progressed. How T.L. did this plus 3-a-week Bullfinch strips and trained for a 10-k charity run, all in his spare time... wow.

As Larry Miller joked: "My grandfather held down two jobs and went to school at night. If I go to the bank and the dry cleaners in the same afternoon, I need a nap." T.L.'s got a seriously old school work ethic.

Looking forward to Eldon's turn at the pencil. I'm not the biggest fan of his story (don't dislike it, but it just never hooked me), but his art is awesome. So Eldon's art with Brock's story ought to be all sorts of awesome.

REALLY eager to see the David Reddick pages.

Have a good rest, T.L.!

Nice to finally have this project out in the open!

It's been great working with Brock on this project and I hope to do the Tangerine Origin justice. Now I just gotta finish it up. Oh, my aching wrists.

A big round of applause for both of you! This has been a great journey so far and I look forward to what's next. :) On a side note, I have IE and I can actually see that image of the preview page. This would be the first time I've been able to see the picture you've posted though.

Awesome. Wonder what would have had happened if Money Man had lived? Guess we'll never know.

Love the art on the Tangerine origins preview!

Alright! I can't wait to see Tangerine's Origin! That is awesome news.

The more I think about it though the more I feel Swifty needs to take some blame. If mega matt wasn't there I bet he would have still wasted his time pouting about Jerry rather than trying to save the money man himself.

I wonder who gets all Money Man's wealth? A son/daughter perhaps, donated to the Socioty or some 3rd man...er person, a young doctor perhaps?

Greg B. - I'm with you. I've got no earthly idea how T.L. has been doing all of this. The 5-week break is well-deserved. Eldon's stuff is fantastic, I think the Tangerine story just might meet your expectations. As for Reddick...that's definitely coming, but not sure when yet. You'll know as soon as I do.

EldoniusRex - I know! I wanted to throw the spotlight on this collaboration at just the right moment. We've got two weeks to build the buzz and I think people are getting excited, as they should be. Your stuff has been great so far.

John - Awesome! Just got the pencils from TL last night and they look amazing. I can't wait to start inking. You better believe there's gonna be an artist edition. More details soon.

ED - Yeah? You can see it? Great! Man, I'm glad that's finally fixed. Thanks for sticking with us.

Dierna - Things happened as they were always meant to. One day, I'd love to do a time travel story where things get mucked up, but this just wasn't that story. Glad you liked it though.

Tyler D. - A moment of silence for the Money Man, please.

EEN - Interesting theories. Swifty is pretty Jerry focused, so it's hard to say how it might have gone down. Glad you're pumped about Tangerine. I think you're really gonna get where he's coming from by the end of it. Might change some peoples' minds about him.

just goes to show that you cant change the past, it always finds a way to "correct" itself.

ahhh good ol swifty, he makes me laugh.

looking forward to Tangerines origin, the art looks dark and gritty, seems fitting.

its really cool that your getting other artists involved for the different origins. it will give each one a distinct personality. are you friends with all these guys? or how do you land em?

and where the heck is Matt? lol

Thanks everyone! It was a great project and I'm really looking forward to the collection. It was totally worth the loss of my sanity, clear thinking, judgment! I will be back.

DGriff13 - I know. It's crazy. Thanks, Dawn!

Artisan54 - Well, TL is the official SuperFogeys Origins artist. That's not changing. But, as we were approaching the end of this origin I was sensing some fatigue on his part and so we talked about it and decided to see if we couldn't get someone else to come in and do a spot. I got in touch with Eldon through my Tall Tale Features compatriot Brian Anderson, but I get other artists doing SF stories (there's also one in each of the printed books that you haven't seen unless you've purchased them) in a variety of different ways. Sometimes, I get approached, other times I it just evolves from have a conversation with another artist (like with Reddick). Expect more TL in the future, but also some guest artists here and there when appropriate and/or needed.

As for Eldon's art being appropriate for Tangerine...couldn't agree more. With each artist I work with I try to write something that fits their style, while also asking them which characters they might be interested in drawing.

As for Matt...well, I guess he's stuck.

Bullfinch - Yeah you will. And you're totally gonna kill the Herman story. I can't wait to see what you do with it.
