Can You Become the First Digging for Dinos World Champion?

Every game has a first champion.

On Friday, July 31, one player will earn the title of First-Ever Digging for Dinos World Champion and become a permanent part of the game's history.

As part of the Gen Con debut of Digging for Dinos, we're inviting players to compete in our inaugural World Championship at Booth #231.

Whether you're a veteran board gamer or you've just learned the game at the convention, everyone has a chance to claim the title.

Registration is Open

Registration is officially open now and will remain open until Friday, July 31, or until all 32 tournament spots have been claimed.

Players are seeded based on the order they register, so signing up early could provide a more favorable position in the bracket.

Tournament Details

Date: Friday, July 31

Location: 3WS Games Booth #231

Format: Single-Elimination Tournament

Maximum Players: 32

The tournament bracket will be finalized before the event.

  • The first 16 registered players will begin in standard head-to-head matches.
  • If more than 16 players register, additional entrants will be added to the lowest-seeded matches, creating 3-player games.
  • If more than 24 players register, additional entrants will be added to the lowest-seeded 3-player matches, creating 4-player games.

This format ensures every available tournament seat can be filled while maintaining a fair competitive bracket.

Match Schedule

All championship matches will take place on Friday, July 31.

  • First round begins at 10:15 AM
  • New matches begin every 30 minutes
  • Championship Match begins at 2:15 PM
  • Awards Ceremony at approximately 2:45 PM

Each match has a 25-minute time limit. If time expires before a game concludes, final scores will determine the winner.

Players are expected to arrive before their scheduled match time. Competitors arriving more than five minutes late will forfeit their match.

Tournament organizers will communicate brackets, opponents, and match times via email, text message, and the Scoreholio app. We encourage all participants to download Scoreholio before the event.

Championship Prize

The 2026 Digging for Dinos World Champion will receive:

Prizes will be award to second and third place as well.
