The Dig Begins at Gen Con

Be among the first to play Digging for Dinos, compete in the inaugural World Championship, meet designer Andrew Stiles, and take home the game before its August 19 retail release.

There's something special about being there at the beginning.

Before a game finds its way onto store shelves, before it becomes part of family game nights and convention memories, there's that first weekend when a community gets to discover it together.

For Digging for Dinos, that weekend is Gen Con.

We're incredibly excited to invite you to join us at Booth #231 as we officially debut Digging for Dinos. Whether you're stopping by to learn the game, meeting designer Andrew Stiles, competing in our inaugural World Championship, or taking home one of the very first copies, we can't wait to share this experience with you.

Learn to Play & Earn an Exclusive Ribbon

If you're visiting Gen Con, make Booth #231 one of your first stops!

We'll be teaching Digging for Dinos throughout the convention, and everyone who sits down for a demo will receive an exclusive "I Dug for Dinos!" Gen Con badge ribbon while supplies last.

Whether you're a lifelong dinosaur fan or just looking for a fun new family game, we'd love to introduce you to the dig site.

Can You Become the First World Champion?

To celebrate the launch, we're hosting the inaugural Digging for Dinos World Championship!

Registration is open now, and you can sign up starting today through Friday, July 31, or until all 32 tournament spots have been filled.

The championship takes place on Friday, July 31 where players will compete in a single-elimination tournament for the title of Digging for Dinos World Champion.

Every participant will receive an exclusive tournament badge ribbon, and our top finishers will take home:

  • 🥇 1st Place: The Digging for Dinos World Championship Trophy and a 3WS Games Store Credit

  • 🥈 2nd Place: Prize Package

  • 🥉 3rd Place: Prize Package

Tournament updates, brackets, and match notifications will be managed through Scoreholio, and registered players will receive scheduling information before the event.

If you've got what it takes to uncover fossils faster than the competition, we'd love to see your name in the bracket.

Meet the Designer

Designer Andrew Stiles will be signing copies of Digging for Dinos every morning at 10:00 AM, Thursday through Saturday, at Booth #231.

If you've ever wanted to meet the creator behind the game, hear a few stories from development, or simply have your copy signed, we'd love to see you there.

Play Against the Designer

Andrew won't just be signing games—he'll also be participating in official Gen Con Play & Take events throughout the exhibit hall.

It's your chance to learn Digging for Dinos directly from its designer... and maybe even send him home with a loss.

Get It Before Retail

While Digging for Dinos officially releases at retail on August 19, Gen Con attendees won't have to wait.

You'll be able to purchase the game throughout the convention at Booth #231, or order directly from the 3WS Games online store, making Gen Con the very first place to own the game.

About Digging for Dinos

In Digging for Dinos, players become rival paleontologists exploring a shared excavation site in search of dinosaur fossils. Every fossil you uncover brings you one step closer to completing spectacular dinosaur skeletons—but your opponents are digging for the very same discoveries.

Designed for 2–4 players and playing in just 15–30 minutes, Digging for Dinos combines approachable rules with clever tactical decisions, a unique movement system, premium wooden components, and plenty of replayability for kids, families, and experienced gamers alike.

We Can't Wait to See You

Gen Con has always been one of our favorite weekends of the year because it's about more than games—it's about the people who play them.

To everyone who has supported 3WS Games over the years, thank you. And if this is your first time discovering us, welcome.

Come say hello, learn a new game, earn an exclusive ribbon, meet Andrew, compete for the World Championship, and help us celebrate the beginning of Digging for Dinos.

We'll see you at Booth #231.
